a weekend back east

this past weekend i was able to go back east and see my family and friends.  i also had the first holiday split away from my family, to spend thanksgiving with pat's family. at first it was a little hard to think about not being with my family on thanksgiving, but once the day started it was really nice to be with pat's family and experience other traditions.  everyone was so wonderful, as they always are, and they had a nice champagne toast for me and pat.  it was just so nice.  oh, and aunt kathy's stuffing is amazing!

friday night i met up with my girls from home and we had a nice dinner out on the town.

i also tried on some dresses on friday with my mom and brother.  it was SO intimidating!  i found a few contenders but not "the one" yet.  i am waiting for that feeling people say you get when you find the dress that's meant to be.

saturday night our friends phil and jon had an engagement party for us and all of the crew was there from hoboken, parsippany, my hometown girls, cousin, everyone - it was so nice to see everyone and be together again.

it was a hard flight back west, but once we landed back in san francisco it did feel nice to be "home".  if only "home" could have all of our friends and family transplanted here too!

i am addicted...

to evites.

i'm sorry, but it's true.  how can you resist them?  they have so many cute designs and if i could, i'd send one out for every possible occasion i could think of.

in the meantime i will just drive pat crazy asking him when we can have our next cocktail party.  i'm on the edge of my seat waiting for thanksgiving just so i can send out my holiday party one!

just thought everyone should know :)

here's some of the cute designs they have going at the moment.  how can i get a job working with them!
the martini is my fave.  if you live in san francisco, expect to receive one soon :)

new colors

i can't believe how much my mindset has changed since we first got engaged.  i thought i had this whole thing in the bag - knew what colors i wanted, where i wanted to have it, etc.  now that we're about 10 months out i'm starting to feel a little pressure of bridesmaid dresses, flowers, photographer and the infamous band or DJ situation.  band or dj people?!?!  i have no idea.

anyways, i found some great dresses for the bridesmaid team from j.crew.  i don't want to give away the final end result but i can at least show you some colors i'm thinking.  i'm between fawn and caspian blue, but i'm leaning most towards the fawn color.  question is - what accent color would go best with that?  red?  bright pink?
fawn
caspian blue

i'm excited to come back east for thanksgiving and head in to new york city with a few of the girls to go to j.crew rockefeller center and try on some of the dresses.  and then of course i will try on some dresses of my own that weekend as well!

we're moving along!

my good deed

today i was on my way to work and driving down one of san francisco's busy one-way city streets.  it's the street you take if you're in a hurry and the lights are all synchronized so you can get where you're going - quickly!

as i was heading down the street, with the wireless handset on, speaking with a colleague in new jersey, suddently out of the corner of my eye i saw a woman fall in the middle of the crosswalk.  another girl was right next to her when it happened, and i pulled right over to the side of the street.  i was in such a hurry that i left my car window down and the KEYS IN THE CAR, along with my purse and laptop!!

i ran across the street and called 911 and the other girl sat next to the woman, who had not moved at all - her face was literally facing the pavement.  i stayed on with 911 and the girl and i answered the 911 attendant's questions, and we waited for the firetruck and ambulance to arrive.  it literally only took about 5 minutes.  in the meantime the woman started to cry, i think she was in shock but thank God she was conscious again!  i grabbed her lunchbox, scarf, hat and purse (it was cold this morning!) and gave it to the ambulance guys while the other girl called the woman's husband.  then they loaded her in and we were on our way.

when i ran back across the street i remembered my keys were still in the car - and i was next to a fire hydrant.  luckily the parking attendants saw the whole situation and let me off for free :)

it was quite a start to my monday morning - and hers!  hopefully she's doing OK now.

some things are more important

sorry it's been a while since my last post - a lot has been going on back east with the family and i've realized some things are more important than what color scheme i'm going to follow and will the band play bruce springsteen and bon jovi :).

i hope to get more updates going in the next week or so but in the meantime i'm focusing on what really matters which is the health of family and loved ones.

sending a hug from california to everyone back east who needs it!

halloween!

halloween is a big deal in our house - it's also pat's birthday, so always a fun night!

this year i was short on ideas - i wanted to be bruce springsteen but pat convinced me all i'd look like was a girl with a short wig and red bandana, so i opted for my old giraffe costume instead.  pat was dog the bounty hunter, which was pretty hilarious.  here's some pics from our night - hope everyone else had fun too!

and the prize winners in my book for best costumes...
