midnight snack

as a kid i loved these.  when my cousins would sleep over our parents would leave a "midnight snack" which we ended up eating around 10:30, because we were so excited to see what they left us.  and if we were at mimi's house, we always got lucky with thin mints!!

as you grow up, the concept of the midnight snack continues to evolve.  in high school, it's whatever your parents had leftover in the fridge.  in college, it's a late night trip to mobil or cumbys (gas station) to snag a bag of hot fries, or maybe you'll luck out and one of the dining halls will be open.  after college you're most likely stumbling to the local pizza place on your way home (if you live in hoboken, that is!).  and then the concept kind of disappears!

so we want to bring this idea back in some shape or form at our wedding for a "late night snack".  although we wish we could bring an in-and-out truck back to connecticut with us, that just isn't possible.

so now we're on to plan B.  the current idea is s'mores.  but the logistics for s'mores are much more challenging than the actual idea.  so we'll see how that works itself out.
smores

but then there's carnival doughnuts.  or for those who have been to nantucket before, "downy flake" style doughnuts.  these would be AMAZING.

or cookies and milk?  can't go wrong there!

or on the salty side, sliders or pigs in a blanket?

one can always wish...

  1. Sounds delish! I've never been to a wedding with a "midnight snack" but if I wasn't too full from cocktail hour and dinner, I'd definitely appreciate it!

  4. Ahhhh! See -- this is why we're wedding buds. We're trying to do this too - during our aftrparty. We're thinking more like chafing dishes of chicken fingers, fries, chips & dip, crudite etc. so that we don't need to pay the wait staff to hang out longer - they can just set it up beforehand & leave it till the next morning.

I looove the idea of smores and you made me think about it for a second, but then I realized:
my drunk college friends + fire (even in little catering tins) = no good. LOL

  5. I LOVE THIS idea. I wanted a taco truck to come by our wedding venue, close to the end of the night (we are in Texas, you've GOT to eat tacos when you're drunk) but it was at least $500 to do so.

My bridesmaids did tell me they planned on hitting up Waffle House after our wedding (our venue is WAY off of a main road..it's the closest restuarant) and they are trying to convince us to "drop by" in my bridal gown and pick up some hash browns-smothered-covered for the hotel. It's a little tempting.

  7. DOUGHNUTS!

i feel like i saw on 'bethenny getting married' a little wheel of donuts that you could do your own filling for ... like squirt the jelly in and make your own delicious doughnut creation.

    NOM NOM!
