a fun day with jennie fresa and steve depino!

as many of you know, i am working on something really exciting and taking steps to make it happen.  so with that said, i reached out to some of my favorite people who also happen to be some of the most talented vendors in the industry, to help me with a little photo shoot.  in the world of facebook profile pics and self-taken arm's length portraits, i have recently realized that it is time to upgrade to something more professional, and jennie and steve were just the ones to help.

first off, let's talk about jennie fresa, someone who i truly adore.  jennie is such an uplifting person with an amazing "glass is half full" attitude, and someone who you just want to be around!  jennie manages her own makeup studio and mini-spa, fondly known as The Beauty Library, and she specializes in wedding makeup, beautifying brides one at a time across the tri-state area (and beyond!)  i was fortunate enough to meet jennie when she did my cousin's wedding makeup last september, and i fell in love with her contagious happy spirit right then and there and knew that i HAD to have jennie do my wedding makeup as well.  in fact, i chose my wedding date around jennie's availability.  that's how amazing she is.  and guess what?  i'm so happy because coming in the next few weeks, jennie will start a monthly guest post on my blog with advice for brides and beauty tips!  so exciting!  so needless to say, when i needed my makeup done for my mini-photo shoot, i contacted jennie right away.  and on the dreary, rainy, fall day when it was time for makeup and the power went out!, jennie didn't bat an eyelash and instead used all the natural light we could find in order to transform me for the purpose of the shoot :)  if you are looking for a makeup artist, do yourself a favor and look no further than jennie fresa - you will be so happy with your decision (as will the women in your bridal party when they get to work with her too!)

so now on to the handsome steve depino.  i have known steve for years now, we shared a mutual friend who introduced us and through the years have gone to a few jets games and halloween parties, and have kept in touch all the while.  steve is a GREAT guy and just a fun person to be around - did i mention he is one of the most talented photographers i've ever come across?  seriously - i used to go check out his photo slideshows when looking for inspiration for my own wedding, or when i was daydreaming about the day i could start planning.  like jennie, steve also runs his own business, steve depino photography, specializing in wedding photography but also shooting everything and anything from NFL draft to portraits... which is exactly why i went to him when looking for someone to take some photos for this project.  (i will mention that i did try to get steve for my wedding too, but he was booked on every possible day i wanted).  on the rainy and cold day of our photoshoot, i was worried that we might not be able to get the pictures i was hoping for, but steve was optimistic and bared the elements with me as we went to some of my favorite places in my hometown (where steve also lives).  3 days later, steve already had some of his favorite pictures from the shoot up on his blog - and i am excited to share them with you too!  if you need a photographer for your wedding, you MUST reach out to steve - he is absolutely amazing (and makes you feel so comfortable on the other side of the lens, which is huge in my book)

so without further ado, here are steve's favorites (straight from his blog):

so stay tuned for more excitement to come - and thank you jennie and steve - you are both truly amazing and i can't wait to work with you both again!  :)

oh and PS - because many people have asked, all clothing was from forever 21 except the north face vest and frye bootscan't beat that!  :)
