Bride Guide: It's OK to Say NO to DIY {Sometimes!}

pom pom image from Prost to the Host

One of the most common questions I've received lately is "how did you make your tissue poms"?

Well, my friends - I didn't make them!  I ordered them from etsy (Prost to the Host), and although I was so tempted to make these beauties myself, I convinced myself (ok, fine, my bridesmaids convinced me!) to order them instead!  You can see my original post here, and here to show the poms before and after.  The only work we {my bridesmaids} actually did was de-fluffing the poms the day before the wedding!

Long story short, you may feel the pressure to do it all yourself or find it hard to let others help you but please know that it's OK to ditch the DIY sometimes in order to take the easy route!  And sometimes, the easy route comes out to be less expensive than the DIY route would have been, which gives you some peace of mind as well :)

Have any Bride Guide tips to share?  Contact me and I'll include in a future post!

  1. Are you writing this post to me? Lol.. you're post originally inspired me to use the pom poms but the more I think about it, the more I'd rather pay someone else to make them and then I'll just defluff them. Time will tell ;)

  4. We DIY'ed my bridesmaids' jewelry (which we gave them as part of their participation gift) and our programs...the jewelry probably cost more to DIY than it did to buy them something from Claire's or whatever! But DIY'ing the programs (we got married in SC in August and made fan programs) cost us maybe $20-30? That was for nice heavy stock paper, the tongue-depressor things for the handles (we used colored ones) and some special glue. But I can't imagine having the time or energy to DIY much more than that! Of course, we had a short engagement.

    Also, I will eventually get around to sending you our wedding info. Do you have a questionnaire I should fill out? Unfortunately my pictures are still all huge sizes and I don't know when I'll have time to resize :-/

    You can email me at taralynne1213[at]gmail[dot]com if that's easier for you :)

  7. DIY is fun but can be overwhelming if you try to do it all yourself.
